Should one of your resolutions include your Branding? Does it need a kick start?

We all start the new year with a list of resolutions but why?

Why do we wait till the new year?

Is it because it’s a clean start, a chance to make changes, a point in time to make decisions. Like losing weight or stopping smoking…

Taking down the decorations (did you know it’s bad luck to leave them up after 6th January) after Christmas may feel depressing to some people but to other people it kicks start the new year. While it is lovely to decorate the house, it is so refreshing when they are packed away and the house seems so much clearer and uncluttered and tidier! It’s about that time we take a good look around and decide to make a few changes!

Not just at home but with your business – Look at your branding… although it is important to continually be maintaining and keeping it up to date, every now and then – like in the new year, you can stop and re-evalue it.

Resolutions waver after a few weeks or days in some cases and our Branding specifications can wander without realising it too.

  • Has it got diluted?
  • Do all the colours match wherever it is seen?
  • Are the typefaces and styles the same across all your media?
  • Can you tell if it is all consistent?
  • Do you know what it should be?

If you are unsure about the specifications, what colour or what typeface it should be, it is time to do a bit of spring cleaning.

Without changing the whole look it can be tidied up and put into order for the year to come. A tweak here will not be noticed in general but you will know and be proud to know it is all consistent and uniform.

If it’s time to have a completely fresh approach, go back to your purpose, your mission and your vision and set a few new objectives and goals down. Then look at your branding and decide which parts work, which don’t or what you like and what you don’t. Your new branding starts from there….

Take this chance to really sit down and look at how it is working for you, does it identify you, does it communicate what you want it to say? Do you know what you want it to do for you?

If you would like to talk about your branding, how you could improve it and get it really working across all media, call me and discuss a Brand consultation where we can work through your media and iron out any inconsistencies and plan a new approach or update it for 2018.

Email or call to chat and we can see what help you need to resolve those issues.
